During
the last 90 days of 2006 I was robbed twice at gunpoint doing
a job I love. On New Years Eve while sitting in church wondering
how I was going to make a difference, right before communion
it came to me to send a Valentines Day card and a rose to the
troops in the gulf. Well logistically and cost wise it was
going to be impossible until I came up with a solution.
As I was writing a letter to American Greeting to see if I could
get them to help print the cards or at least give me some direction.
I wrote the inside of the greeting card:
Thinking of you, on Valentines Day
Wishing you a safe and speedy return home
Thank you for defending
The US and us!
The message, without "on Valentines Day",
lent itself to be sent at anytime of the year so instead of
sending it for Valentines as originally planned, we are sending
them over as we get them signed and personalized.
We also designed a business card sized card for
the troops to carry with them. The peach rose means thanks
and gratitude.
So far we have sent out over 5,000 cards to the gulf. I have
been doing this from small donations of time and money from
friends and family, with a majority of it coming from the tips
I make working for Domino’s.
